Dark Room: Super Natural

I like it when landscapes or parts of pure nature look supernatural. I like that touch of mysticism. That makes a story.

Truth be told, the next photo inspired me to do this post. I think it's the most creative shot I've seen lately.

Walkman: 8 Bit

I have a strange obsession lately. It's 8 bit. I found this cool guy on You Tube and he makes great 8 bits and I can't help myself.

Perfect for my ringtone. Vintage feel.

The channel is: Dave Fucking Grohl

Also, you can find other songs all over You Tube, like this version of 'Get Lucky':

Isn't it addictive?

Gallery: The World In A Nutshell

Lori Nix is a very special artist. She constructs miniature models of events and then photographs them. No special effects or digital manipulation. Amazing.

"My scenes can be as small as 50x60 centimeters and as large as 182 centimeters in diameter. It takes approximately seven months to build and photograph a scene. I build it for one angle of view and never move my camera from that spot. I will change the lighting, the placement of the objects and re-shoot until I'm fully satisfied with the results. I shoot with an 8x10 large format camera and film." (Lori Nix)

"I am interested in depicting danger and disaster, but I temper this with a touch of humor. My childhood was spent in a rural part of the United States that is known more for it's natural disasters than anything else. I was born in a small town in western Kansas, and each passing season brought it's own drama, from winter snow storms, spring floods and tornados to summer insect infestations and drought. Whereas most adults viewed these seasonal disruptions with angst, for a child it was considered euphoric." (Lori Nix)

Nix photographed several themes. Photos above are from the series 'Some other place'. Next set of photos is from the series 'Lost'. You can exactly recognize why they are classified in this group. They also have some sort of message I think. Find out for yourself.

Her last work is named 'The City'. It's about the future, when the city is empty and in ruins, and nature takes over. The detail crafted interiors are fairytale.

Cro: Design Hotel

A few years ago I spent my Easter holidays in Hotel Lone in Rovinj, Croatia. The hotel is special coz it's a 5 star, awards-winning design hotel. Very likable and pleasurable. The space is free-flowing and bright. In the center there is a glass celling below which hangs a metal sculpture. Low sofas are arranged around tables on which you can write with markers.

I love all those plants and curved lines. The rooms are simple and stylish. From the outside the hotel looks like a cruiser.
"In addition to the hotel architecture, designed by the studio 3LHD, virtually all the interior design elements were created especially for Lone. The furniture was designed by Grupa Numen/For Use, the textile décor by the I-GLE studio, the artistic installations in the hotel are works by artists Ivana Franke and Silvio Vujičić, and the hotel’s visual identity was created by the agency Bruketa & Žinić OM." Do you like the design?

Runway: Sleeping Beauty

I was so so sad when I read about the death of Peaches Geldof. Remember when I posted about my style icon Alexa? I mentioned that I like her friends too, and Geldof family is definitely on the list. So, here's a little style digest in memory of lovley Peaches.

Her style was retro and absolutely not masculine. She wore light and dark colours with bold pieces such as silver stilettos or blue purse as seen above. She wasn't affraid of wearing different matterials  and textures. I loved both her red carpet and casual looks.

Peaches was a TV presenter, journalist and model from the United Kingdom. She had two sons with her second husband Thomas Cohen from the band S.C.U.M. They were such a great and stylish couple. And so young...

Dark Room: Stars In Focus

Photo shootings of music stars are often tacky. Too much photoshop, unnatural postures, uninteresting background, overstyled clothes. So when I see good a good shooting, I'm thrilled.
Guys from pop band Hurts must be very inspirative, coz I looove most of their shootings. I'll post two of them here. What's so special about them? Firts of all, Theo and Adam look like models. Secondly, they are always stylish, so no hassle for the stylist. The third thing is their melancolic and somehow magic music, and that can be very well conected with photographs in terms of atmosphere.
