Dark Room: Inner World

It's grey and rainy so let's enjoy the beauty of b&w photographs by Leda Siloto.

The photographs are dreamily edited, like we are trying to dig our way through her flesh to reach what's going on in her subconscious. For me, it's about feeling lonely, lost, trying to come back home.

Rec: Wonderful Destino

'Destino' is a short film created by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali.
"The film tells a story of Chronos, the personification of time and the inability to realize his desire to love for a mortal. (...) The scenes blend a series of surreal paintings of Dali with dancing and metamorphosis. (...) The work of painter Salvador Dali was to prepare a six-minute sequence combining animation with live dancers and special effects (...). Dali in the studio working on The Disney characters are fighting against time, the giant sundial that emerges from the great stone face of Jupiter and that determines the fate of all human novels. Dali and Hench were creating a new animation technique, the cinematic equivalent of 'paranoid critique' of Dali. Method inspired by the work of Freud on the subconscious and the inclusion of hidden and double images. (...) The plot of the film was described by Dali as a magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time. Walt Disney said it was a simple story about a young girl in search of true love." (in video description)

When I saw it for the first time I thought it was such a sad story. Now I think it's encouraging and optimistic. Well, it can be interpreted in any way you want. That's the beauty. What I also love about this film: everything. Characters (this young green-eyed, black hair lady is gorgeous), metamorphosis, music, incorporated paintings.

Talking about paintings, here are my Dali's favourites:

Cro: Zoe Summer Story

Take a look at this fabulous shooting! This great lookbook was shot by Zvonimir Ferin for Zoe Leggings' 'Zoe Summer Story' campagne. I know the summer's gone, but it's still warm and sunny here. The designer behind Zoe Leggings is Tamara Ivić. She designes leggings and swimwear with cool prints and unique cut. The lookbook is fun and playful. I love the styling, models and photography. It will definitely cheer you up! (Have I mentioned that Beyonce owns a pair of Zoe leggings too? ;-) )

Dark Room: New Dimension

Photos by me.

One of my recent sessions. Well, from March, but that's recent to me.

I found a piece of special plastic which makes these weird reflections. Photos would've been better without my blue sleeve, but they were created spontaneously (yeah I was that fascinated I had to grab my camera immediately). I like my green nails though; they look kinda futuristic. Appropriate.

Runway: Day & Night

I've already written about my grunge crush. Let's add a girly touch. Here's how I would style it for day adventures and night parties.

Gallery: Light And Liquid

Ruslan Khasanov is a graphic desigher and artist. Probably my favourite at the moment. He makes the coolest typography and hollography using mainly light and glass or paint and liquid. It's splendid.

He doesn't use these techniques only for typography. Make sure you watch his videos too ('Pacific Light' ;-) )! He also designes logos and illustrations.

You can find it all on his site: RUS KHASANOV
What a lovely designed web-site. Did you notice what's at the end of every post? :-)

Walkman: Soul Ladies

My opinion is that males are better musicians than females. No wonder there are only male producers and almost all rock bands are made up of men. But, as my favourite fact says: the only rule is that there are no rules. Lately I've been listening to some FEMALE artists who are extremely talented and I whant to share their music with you. In general, guys wright better lyrics, but girls wright emotional and direct. And soul is the best way to express that, isn't it. So give a round of applause for these soul ladyes.

Duffy

I'm in love with her. She has the most perfect voice and singing tehnique. She has recorded two albums and I hope the third is on the way. They were both very successful: I'm sure you've heard "Mercy", "Rain On Your Parade", "Warwick Avenue" and "Well, Well, Well". Her songs cover various themes, manly about love, and pace varies from slow to dance. I like strings and guitar and melodies... Here's how she sings (she is brilliant in this one):

Joss Stone

I started listening to her music since I saw a concert on a local TV station with her and Elton John. She was so good live I had to download all her albums immediately. "You Had Me", "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now", rings a bell? Her voice is rely unique and her music is so uplifting, at least for me. Just listen to this :-) :

Amy Winehouse

It was her birthday yesterday. No words needed for her. Amazing voice, amazing singing, amazing lyrics. It's a shame she picked the wrong path. Here's one of my favourites:

Paloma Faith

She's a true diva. (I know she's not that well known as previous singers but I bet her time will come). Though her songs are more pop, kind of cabare style, she is amazing. And her appearance is something! I don't really listen to her music coz it's just not my style, but some people I respect very much worked with her and oh my just listen to this acoustic session (this songs I do listen to, it's so soul and she's so outstanding):

I hope you enjoyed :-)

Dark Room: Evanescence

Too many things going on at the same time. My brain is exhausted. I need something sweet and slow. Just imagine drifting away... Ok I'll just stop now before I start writing nonsense.

All photos by me.

The photos of baldahin were taken ages ago with an old shitty camera. Of all photographs these were the only worth keeping. Now I have Olympus E-520. I use Photoscape for editing.

Rec: 366 Days, 366 Seconds

(Snapshot)
This is one of the best projects ever! Jonathan Britnell from Texas shot a second per day of 2012. Every week had it's theme. Than he put it all together in a 366-sec (=6 min) video. It's beyond beautiful!

Watch it on Vimeo: 2012. 366 days. 366 seconds.

Btw this guy also runs a Tumblr blog with '1 song per day' theme if you like his taste in music. Find it on his Vimeo profile.

After little internet research, I found more similar projects. There's an application by Apple '1SE' for recording 1 second every day. Oh my, that exists too *.* Well this is for amateurs obviously but still so interesting.

(Just read the whole site haha!) Cesar Kuriyama made a video that represents his life at age 30 and decided to make an app. How creative.

Now I wanna do something similar. A photo per day in 2014. (Or maybe a year as a 21-year-old? It's my birthday soon...) I just don't know yet what to shoot. I've already seen self-portraits and window views. I need something cooler than that. Any ideas?

Runway: Grunge-Inspired

I'm so excited about grunge trend on the way. I think that the 90's were my favourite decade and I like that laid-back, alternative attitude.

Well, to be honest, I'm not a fan of ripped jeans and plaid shirts (you don't wanna look like a homeless, do you), but I love grunge-inspired outfits with leo print, band T-shirts, ankle boots, parkas, high-waisted shorts and skirts, coloured hair... and the right vibe.

(Click on the collages to see them in full size ;-) )
Here's what I created on Polyvore. The transparent part goes over the shorts. I paired the duo with ombre hair and lots of bracelets and rings.

Cro: Surf-Rock Stars

I want to introduce you a band which is very actual these days coz their song "Chaotica" got into 'Breaking Bad' soundtrack (season 5, episode 12). Although I don't watch the TV series, I would like to (when I find time) coz I've heard only excellent critics. They are The Bambi Molesters and they are from Sisak. I think they are a Croatian band with the best potential to conquer the world. I mean, they're already doing it. They play surf-rock and are great live (I've had that pleasure to see them rock). They were the opening act for R.E.M. several times and collaborated with Chris Eckman.

(Credits: Sandra Vitaljić)
This is my favourite song coz it's the one that introduced me to the band. It's from their last album (although they exist since 1995., but you can't really hear that kind of music on radio or MTV, sadly).

Ohhh I so hope you like it! Listen to the rest, I know you want to hear "Chaotica" :-)

Gallery: Infinity Mirrored Room

I wanted this exhibition to be set forever in Tate Modern so I can see it one day when I come to London. It's from the last year. The artist Yayoi Kusama made this magical room titled 'Infinity Mirrored Room – Filled with the Brilliance of Life'.

"The walls and ceiling of the room are mirrored, and the floor features a shallow pool of water. Visitors walk through the room on a walkway made of mirrored tiles. Hanging from the ceiling are hundreds of small, round LED lights that flash on and off in different colour configurations. The pinpricks of light in the otherwise darkened room appear to reflect endlessly in the mirrors, giving the viewer the experience of being in an apparently endless space, broken only by points of light in the darkness." (www.tate.org.uk)

Now let's pretend we're there:

This photo is my favourite (I found them all on Google):
