Gallery: Fragile Beauty

Leslie Ann O'Dell is a contemporary artist who works in photography, fine art, and digital media. Her portraits of mysterious women look fragile, but speak more than words.

Dark Room: Still Nature

This is me playing with a vase. I don't remember why I liked it. I took like a million photos of it. Don't worry, I only kept five of them. So, enjoy the vase!

I was really just playing with different perspectives here. It's not that boaring, is it?

Dark Room: Beautiful Halls

Check this out-stunning photos by David Leventi!
"Leventi’s series 'Bjoerling’s Larynx' depicts the interiors of world-famous opera houses, all photographed with 4x5” and 8x10” Arca-Swiss cameras to maximize detail. Architecturally meticulous, this body of work serves to historically document these national and cultural landmarks." (bau-xiphoto.com)

Are these halls even real?

Wallpaper: Happy Place

I prefer happy cheerful spaces (at the moment). Minimalism can look cold. So to cheer you up, let me show you these cool oriental/vintage/ethno rooms.

It's all about colours and details.

Rec: Brave New World

Three beautiful little videos for today. They are very cinemtic. I don't know what the songs are about (just discovered this band M83 through these videos) but they are great.
"Beginning with 'Midnight City', we meet a group of children with special telekinetic powers imprisoned in an asylum from which they escape and, for a few fleeting moments, live like regular kids. That is, until they discover they are being pursued by the faceless authorities, who no doubt aim to place the kids back in captivity, in 'Reunion'. In the final episode 'Wait', (...) we enter an entirely new level of epic." (thecreatorsproject.vice.com)

Part I:

Part II:

Part III:

Looks to me like the end of the modern humanity and the creation of a new world order, pure and connected with nature.
The videos are the result of collaboration between M83 and Fleur & Manu.

Dark Room: Watch Your Step

My first ever photo project is finished!!!
'Watch Your Step' lasted from 04/11/2013 (my 21st birthday) until 03/11/2014. It is a photo diary of my 21st year of life. I photographed where I stood each day. It is a big commitment to take a photo every single day, but now I miss it. I really got used to it. I apologize for low quality (my phone camera is not the best), boaring scenes (like me vacuuming, coz some days are just boaring), repetitive places (my room when I couldn't go out because of the weather, going out at the same club, etc.) and any other failure. And one big warm THANK YOU to everyone who participated!

I had problems presenting the project. I wanted to make a web-site, but I couldn't find the suitable free program. In the end I discovered '365project'-a site for people who take a photo per day and share it with the community, and uploaded my project there.
You can choose a month or click on a specific photo. You can read under each photo where it was taken and what it represents. (You can comment or "fav" only if you are signed in '365project'.)

You can see the project here: 365project.org

I like '365project' so much I'm gonna continue using it. You can follow my new project from 01/01/2015: 365project.org/marta_m/profile
I'll write an update post about that. All I know is that I will focus more on photography in that one.

Like, share, tell me what you think!

Gallery: Light-Painted

Artist Qiu Minye photographed glowing objects, creating a totaly new, dreamy expirience. The project is called 'My God'.

"By painting with light, Minye has suggested different forms of objects that could be real, and then photographed them, resulting in haunting, iridescent, airy images. (...) By removing any fussy details (whether it is light, shadow or color) that may anchor an object in the mundane, he has elevated the idea of the object/subject to something majestic and mystical." (beautifuldecay.com)

"The artist illustrates merely the motion and outline of human figures, animals and floating, transparent objects, regardless of the light, shadow, color and other common aesthetic conditions they bear. The series provides the audience with a visually mystifying and seemingly impossible optical experience and at the same time poses an important question: In contemporary art how can the importance of experience have new emphasis?" Isn't art with lights just the best?
