Dark Room: Fashion Photography

Fashion photography is not something that excites me as much, but here's a lady who does it soooo good. Her name is Carlotta Manaigo. I discovered her thorough one Hurts photo shoot (Hurts the band). I'll post it next time.

Her photos tell stories without exaggeration (which is extra frequent in fashion shoots). The atmosphere is essential. And the first thing you notice is clothes. Mission completed.

Gallery: Paper Creatures

Peter Gentenaar is making various paper sculptures. Placed in space, they look like heavenly paper creatures descending from the sky.

How does he make them?
"A paper sheet is thin and strong and, reinforced with very thin ribs of bamboo, can be compared to a leaf. By beating pulp a long time, an extraordinary play of forces occurs during the drying process of my paper sculpture. The paper shrinks considerably, up to 40%, and the force of this puts the non-shrinking bamboo framework under stress, just as a leaf when it drys" (gentenaar-torley.nl

Very suitable ornaments for traditional and modern spaces, as you can see.

Runway: Event Dress Codes

Here are some ideas for different events we (don't) attend. I tried to find suitable Polyvore interpretations  from my archives.
Let's start with something simple. Going out to the club. Friday evening at the bar. You know, those opportunities to wear a dress, skirt, heels... Here are some cute, not-vulgar ideas:

Next. Birthdays. Wear something simple (a.k.a. comfortable) with details that stand-out. You want to look good and ready for full participation in the event.

Who likes culture events? Opening parties, promotions, award ceremonies... I do! Here I'm going for a classy/feminine look. Coz you want to look sophisticated in a way.

Finally, red carpet. All eyes on you. I imagine that moment in fine materials like lace, silk, brocade etc. And royal colors: black, white, red, green, gold, silver.

Oh, and I thought about those girls who don't feel comfortable in skirts and weird pants. So here's a set with comfy jeans and such. They can be combined to look elegant too. Specially practical in colder season.

Found something for yorself?

Cro: Lovely Photographer

I am not familiar with many good amateur photographers from Croatia. But I know a few. Ines Perković is one of them. She shoots lifestyle photography with such warmth and passion. Her simple style with a personal touch is so relaxing. Here are some shots with my favorite motives like clouds, light, fog... You know I'm obsessed with that.

Visit her web-site: inesperkovic.com
You'll find her photos, beauty blog and links to other accounts like Flickr and Instagram.

P.S. If you're in Zagreb, I recommend "Foto Tonka"-an exhibition about our famous photographer Tonka Kulčar-Valjda. Her 1920s portraits are magical.
