Wallpaper: 31 Rue Cambon

Coco Chanel's apartment in Paris at 31 Rue Cambon is splendid. The Chanel shop is at the street level, dressing rooms on the second, Coco's apartment is on the third, and her personal workshop was on the fourth.

 

 

The apartment is inspired by Oriental style. She believed in the healing power of crystal, hence the chandeliers in every room, and lions refer to her Leo star sign. Much of the furniture was custom-made of amended according to the designer's directives. The sofa on the first picture was designed by her.

The apartment is entered via a sweeping spiral staircase with Art Deco panels of mirrors running along the walls. Coco would watch the audience's reaction to her designs during shows-it was the only place she could see them, but they could not see her. Sophisticated woman.
